What is THCa and how does it differ from THC?THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw and live cannabis. It is the precursor to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and converts to THC through a process called decarboxylation, which occurs when exposed to heat or light. THCa is abundant in fresh cannabis but is unstable under controlled storage conditions, leading to inevitable THC contamination. This makes lab results based solely on THCa challenging to determine. For more detailed information, please refer to our lab results section on the website. Unlike THC, THCa does not produce psychoactive effects until it is decarboxylated.
